NoGi Grappling and Submission Wrestling classes offer an exciting and evolving approach to martial arts. Originating from Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ), this discipline has become distinct due to the removal of the Gi, which began with Vale Tudo and MMA fighters. The lack of the Gi facilitates faster-paced matches and allows for a broader range of techniques, such as heel hooks and cranks, which are often restricted in traditional Gi formats.
Classes are led by head coach Adam Gunning from Gorilla Grapplers, who emphasises the importance of training in both Gi and NoGi for complete skill development. Adam incorporates elements of BJJ, Submission Wrestling, and MMA Grappling, ensuring students gain a comprehensive skill set. The absence of the Gi reduces friction and grip, resulting in more wrestling-based takedowns and increased scrambles during matches, making the training exhilarating and dynamic.
